New Leaders in Rheumatology Bootcamp: A Perfect Precursor to the 2018 Annual NORM Conference

There comes a time when the captain (owner of the practice) puts us at the helm of the ship. When faced with that decision, many of us accept the challenge and try to keep the ship sailing through to calmer waters. Are you ready to take charge and navigate through the choppy seas of medical practice management? Overcoming this challenge is infinitely easier when you have access to the right tools and individuals who can show you how to use them. Let the National Organization of Rheumatology Managers (NORM) throw you a lifeline! Attend our first-ever New Leaders in Rheumatology Bootcamp at the 2018 NORM Conference in Tampa, FL, October 4-6, 2018.

At the NORM Bootcamp, you can acquire the resources you need to build a sustainable and successful practice. You will meet many of your NORM peers and have the opportunity to discuss relevant topics, such as how to run the right management reports, how to handle human resource issues, how to analyze and adjust your office workflow, how to ensure your medical practice is staying in compliance, and much more.

This Bootcamp will be held from 8 am to 3 pm on Thursday, October 4, 2018. We will make this session as interactive as possible and provide you with a variety of ideas that you can apply to daily life in your practice. More important, you will be able to network with a tremendous group of peers and mentors who will help you along the way.

This opportunity is limited to the first 25 registrants. To register, login on the NORM website (www.normgroup.org), and go to the resources tab, where you will find additional information and the registration link (to attend the Bootcamp, you must also register for the annual conference). Upon registration for the Bootcamp, you will be charged a $50 deposit to hold your spot. However, the full deposit will be refunded upon completion of the session.

Once the Bootcamp concludes, you will have plenty of time to enjoy the rest of the events taking place at the conference. This year’s theme is “the Hidden Treasures of Rheumatology: Charting a New Course in Rheumatology.” We realize that it is challenging to keep up with payers’ requirements, the newest Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services initiative, your electronic health record systems’ latest upgrade, and other issues while trying to run a practice. That is where NORM can support you and your staff. You do not need to recreate the wheel—we are a group of rheumatology practice managers who assist each other by sharing our thoughts and ideas. At the annual conference, we share the latest information on payer issues, and offer educational webinars on the hottest topics in rheumatology practice management. NORM is comprised of amazing managers who are willing to share protocols, templates, handbooks, and other vital resources with their peers.

You may be thinking that you would like to come to the Bootcamp and conference, but are finding it difficult to justify being away from your office for an extended period of time. Ask anyone who has attended NORM events throughout the years and they will say that you cannot afford not to attend. Not only will you gain a plethora of knowledge, you will make connections with a support network that will be there for many years to come. Moreover, the time away from the office is a chance to refresh and energize yourself as a manager. We spend so much of our time trying to keep our physicians from “burning out” that we often neglect to take care of ourselves.

I encourage you to attend the upcoming Bootcamp and annual conference. You will no doubt leave the experience with many “hidden treasures” to transform and elevate your practice.
